هَيِّنٌ
insignificant, too easy
هَيِّنٌ : insignificant, too easy
root: هون: to be lowly, despicable, contemptible
Sūra Maryam 19:9 and 21
The word هَيِّنٌ is mentioned twice in Sūra Maryam, both of them in the stories of the miraculous conceptions of Prophet Yahya and Prophet Isa. When Prophet Zakariyya questions how on earth he’s going to have a son when he’s old and his wife is barren, Allah says:
هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّن
For Me, it's insignificant
And when Sayyida Maryam is bewildered as to how she’ll have a child when no man has touched her, Allah says the same thing:
هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ
The root of this word is هون which means ‘to be despicable, contemptible, lowly’. So for Allah, something massive like that is beneath Him; it’s not just easy, but utterly insignificant.
And that’s what we have to remind ourselves of when we supplicate Him, especially in this month: that nothing is impossible for Allah, nothing is too much for Him. Our worldly wants and desires, even our legitimate desires, big dreams and visions, the biggest most miraculous thing we could imagine happening to us are all paltry and insignificant for Him, for هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ - He is all-Powerful over everything!
